THE SURPRISING COMING KINGDOM
by Pastor Mike Fortune
December 23, 2017

In the surprising coming Kingdom, we...
  1. Sing God's praise (Luke 1:68; Matthew 25:36; Luke 2:14; Acts 16:25)
  2. Share His promises (Luke 1:69-70; Genesis 3:15; Galatians 3:16; Acts 3:18; Eight Prophecies; Quotes)
  3. Serve as long as we live (Luke 1:74-75; John 16:33; Matthew 10:22; Daniel 2:44)
Luke 1:68
68 Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited [ἐπισκέπτομαι episkeptomai] and redeemed his people.

Matthew 25:36
36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared [ἐπισκέπτομαι episkeptomai] for me. I was in prison, and you visited [ἔρχομαι erchomai] me.

Luke 2:14
14 Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.

Acts 16:25
25 Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening.

Luke 1:69-70
69 He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David 70 just as he promised through his holy prophets long ago.

Genesis 3:15 (NKJV)
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.

Galatians 3:16 (NKJV)
16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ.

Acts 3:18
18 God was fulfilling what all the prophets had foretold about the Messiah.
  • PROPHECY #1 The Messiah would be human (Genesis 3:15; Romans 1:3; Galatians 3:16)
  • PROPHECY #2 The Messiah would be Jewish (Genesis 12-28; Deuteronomy 7:7)
  • PROPHECY #3 The Messiah would be from the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10)
  • PROPHECY #4 The Messiah would be from the family of David (Psalm 89:3-4; 132:11; Jeremiah 23:5)
  • PROPHECY #5 The Messiah would be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:1-17; Luke 3:23–37)
  • PROPHECY #6 The Messiah would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2; Luke 2:4-7)
  • PROPHECY #7 The Messiah would be betrayed by friends (Psalm 41:9; Matthew 26:15,50; John 13:18-19)
  • PROPHECY #8 The Messiah would be known for righteousness (Jeremiah 23:6; 33:16; Psalm 45:2,6-7; Hebrews 1:8-9)
The probability of just eight prophecies being fulfilled is one chance in one hundred million billion. That number is millions of times greater than the total number of people who've ever walked the planet! The probability of fulfilling forty-eight prophecies was one chance in a trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion. - Mathematician Peter W. Stoner, Science Speaks (Chicago: Moody, 1969), p.109

All 456 predictive Messianic prophecies were fulfilled—29 alone in the last 24 hours of Jesus’ life. - Alfred Edersheim, The Life and Times of Jesus The Messiah, p.980

Luke 1:74-75
74 We have been rescued from our enemies so we can serve God without fear, 75 in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live.

John 16:33
33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

Matthew 10:22
22 And all nations will hate you because you are my followers. But everyone who endures to the end will be saved.

Daniel 2:44
44 During the reigns of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered. It will crush all these kingdoms into nothingness, and it will stand forever.
