THE DAUGHTER PROJECT: PART 2
by Pastor Mike Fortune
February 6, 2016

  1. We're destitute (Luke 8:42-43; Leviticus 15:25,27; Mark 5:25-26)
  2. We're in denial (Luke 8:44-45)
  3. But daughters can be delivered (Luke 8:47; Isaiah 43:12-13; Ephesians 3:16-17)

Luke 8:42b-48

42 Jesus was surrounded by the crowds. 43 A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding, and she could find no cure. 44 Coming up behind Jesus, she touched the fringe of his robe. Immediately, the bleeding stopped. 45 "Who touched me?" Jesus asked. Everyone denied it, and Peter said, Master, this whole crowd is pressing up against you." 46 But Jesus said, "Someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power go out from me." 47 When the woman realized that she could not stay hidden, she began to tremble and fell to her knees in front of him. The whole crowd heard her explain why she had touched him and that she had been immediately healed. 48 "Daughter," he said to her, "your faith has made you well. Go in peace."

Leviticus 15:25,27

25 "If a woman has a flow of blood for many days that is unrelated to her menstrual period, or if the blood continues beyond the normal period, she is ceremonially unclean. 27 If any of you touch these things, you will be ceremonially unclean.

Mark 5:25-26

25 A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding. 26 She had suffered a great deal from many doctors, and over the years she had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she had gotten worse.

Isaiah 43:12-13 (NIV)

“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “that I am God. 13 Yes, and from ancient days I am he. No one can deliver out of my hand."

Ephesians 3:16-17 (Scripture reading)

16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong.
