YouTube: Parable of the Two Builders

  1. Jesus is the rock (1 Corinthians 10:1-4)
  2. His teachings endure (Luke 6:46-49)
  3. Honor both (Ecclesiastes 12:1; Psalm 62:1-2)

1 Corinthians 10:1-4 (verse 4 Scripture reading)

1 I don't want you to forget, dear brothers and sisters, about our ancestors in the wilderness long ago. All of them were guided by a cloud that moved ahead of them, and all of them walked through the sea on dry ground. 2 In the cloud and in the sea, all of them were baptized as followers of Moses. 3 All of them ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ.

Luke 6:46-49

46 So why do you keep calling me 'Lord, Lord!' when you don't do what I say? 47 I will show you what it's like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. 48 It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. 49 But anyone who hears and doesn't obey is like a person who builds a house without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.

Ecclesiastes 12:1

1 Don't let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth.

Psalm 62:1-2

1 My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. 2 He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
