Fundamental Belief #10: The Experience of Salvation
In infinite love and mercy God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in Him we might be made the righteousness of God. Led by the Holy Spirit we sense our need, acknowledge our sinfulness, repent of our transgressions, and exercise faith in Jesus as Lord and Christ, as Substitute and Example. This faith which receives salvation comes through the divine power of the Word and is the gift of God’s grace. Through Christ we are justified, adopted as God’s sons and daughters, and delivered from the lordship of sin. Through the Spirit we are born again and sanctified; the Spirit renews our minds, writes God’s law of love in our hearts, and we are given the power to live a holy life. Abiding in Him we become partakers of the divine nature and have the assurance of salvation now and in the judgment.
Revelation 7:9-10 (Scripture Reading)
9 After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands.10 And they were shouting with a great roar, "Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!"
1 Corinthians 3:15
15 But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.
Jude 23
23 Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment.
Psalm 40:8
8 I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart."
Colossians 2:10
10 So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.

1 Peter 1:18-19

Genesis 22:11-14
11 At that moment the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven, "Abraham! Abraham!" "Yes," Abraham replied. "Here I am!" 12 "Don't lay a hand on the boy!" the angel said. "Do not hurt him in any way, for now I know that you truly fear God. You have not withheld from me even your son, your only son." 13 Then Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught by its horns in a thicket. So he took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering in place of his son. 14 Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means "the LORD will provide").
Romans 12:1

Numbers 23:21
21 No misfortune is in his plan for Jacob; no trouble is in store for Israel. For the LORD their God is with them; he has been proclaimed their king.
Ellen White
Many have an idea that they must do some part of the work alone. They have trusted in Christ for forgiveness of sin, but now they seek by their own efforts to live aright. But every such effort must fail...He is not only the author but the finisher of our faith. It is Christ first and last and always. He is to be with us, not only at the beginning and the end of our course, but at every step of the way. - Steps to Christ p.69
2 Kings 2:1-6
1 As the time of King David's death approached, he gave this charge to his son Solomon: 2 "I am going where everyone on earth must someday go. Take courage and be a man. 3 Observe the requirements of the LORD your God, and follow all his ways. Keep the decrees, commands, regulations, and laws written in the Law of Moses so that you will be successful in all you do and wherever you go. 4 If you do this, then the LORD will keep the promise he made to me. He told me, 'If your descendants live as they should and follow me faithfully with all their heart and soul, one of them will always sit on the throne of Israel.' 5 "And there is something else. You know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me when he murdered my two army commanders, Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether. He pretended that it was an act of war, but it was done in a time of peace, staining his belt and sandals with innocent blood. 6 Do with him what you think best, but don't let him grow old and go to his grave in peace.
Acts 13:22
22 But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, 'I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.'
Ellen White
Righteousness is obedience to the law. The law demands righteousness, and this the sinner owes to the law; but he is incapable of rendering it. The only way in which he can attain to righteousness is through faith. By faith he can bring to God the merits of Christ, and the Lord places the obedience of His Son to the sinner's account. Christ's righteousness is accepted in place of man's failure, and God receives, pardons, justifies the repentant, believing soul, treats him as though he were righteous, and loves him as He loves His Son. This is how faith is accounted righteousness; and the pardoned soul goes from grace to grace, from light to a greater light. - 1 Selected Messages p.367
Judges 11:30
30 And Jephthah made a vow to the LORD. He said, "If you give me victory over the Ammonites,31 I will give to the LORD whatever comes out of my house to meet me when I return in triumph. I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering."
Hebrews 11:32
32 How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah...
Buddhist Catechism
No one can be redeemed by another. No god and no saint is able to shield a man from the consequences of his evil doings. Every one of us must become his own redeemer.
Martin Luther
When I look at myself, I don't see how I can ever be saved. When I look at Jesus, I don't see how I can ever be lost.
Richard Pecorella
Karen, I’ll always be in love with you, and I will see you again. I will do enough good to make it up there.
