QUESTIONS TJA STUDENTS ASK: WHERE IS GOD AND WHY HASN'T HE COME YET?

  1. Jesus is interceding in the heavenly sanctuary (Hebrews 8:1-2; Hebrews 7:25; 1 John 2:1-2)
  2. Jesus hasn't come because He was is patiently waiting
    • for everyone to repent (2 Peter 3:8-9)
    • for the Gospel to go to the whole world (Matthew 24:14; Matthew 6:10)
    • for us to be known by our love (John 13:35; 1 Peter 1:8; Quotes)
    • until the Father's time (Matthew 24:36; 2 Peter 3:11-12; 1 Peter 1:10; 1 Peter 1:13; Revelation 22:20)

Hebrews 8:1-2
1 Here is the main point: We have a High Priest who sat down in the place of honor beside the throne of the majestic God in heaven. 2 There he ministers in the heavenly Tabernacle, the true place of worship that was built by the Lord and not by human hands.

Hebrews 7:25

25 Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.

1 John 2:1-2

1 My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. 2 He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

2 Peter 3:8-9

8 But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. 9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

Matthew 24:14

And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.

Matthew 6:10

May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

John 13:35

35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.

1 Peter 1:8

You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy.

Christ's Object Lessons p.68

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.” Galatians 5:22, 23. This fruit can never perish, but will produce after its kind a harvest unto eternal life. When the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come. Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church.

Christ's Object Lessons p.69

When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own. It is the privilege of every Christian not only to look for but to hasten the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, (2 Peter 3:12, margin). Were all who profess His name bearing fruit to His glory, how quickly the whole world would be sown with the seed of the gospel. Quickly the last great harvest would be ripened, and Christ would come to gather the precious grain.

Matthew 24:36

36 However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.

2 Peter 3:11-12 (NKJV)

11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God...

1 Peter 1:10

This salvation was something even the prophets wanted to know more about when they prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you.

1 Peter 1:13

So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.

Revelation 22:20

He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
